Motherhood Shapes Us

A woman is lying on a hammock outdoors with four children. The woman is wearing a blue and white striped shirt and jeans. The children are shirtless, one wearing black shorts, another in beige shorts, another in khaki shorts, and the youngest in gray shorts. The children are sitting or lying on the hammock with the woman, with some touching her and one holding her face.

It transforms us—breaking us open, grounding us, and revealing our deepest truths. For me, this journey began when I became a mother to my first son, V. In those early, raw moments of motherhood, I craved a space where I could feel held, seen, and guided as I navigated the depths of this sacred transformation. When I couldn’t find that space, I created it—first within my own family, and then as Maternal Revival, a place for women seeking more from birth, motherhood, and life.

Hello! I’m Hannah Niehues,

The founder of Maternal Revival, a doula, women’s embodiment guide, herbalist and budding astrologer. My work is rooted in the belief that every woman has an innate wisdom—a powerful connection to her body, her intuition, and the divine. Maternal Revival exists to help you rediscover and trust in that wisdom. Through education, ceremony, and connection, I support women and families on the transformational journey of birth and beyond.

My Story

From an early age, I felt drawn to the sacred. Whether it was in healthcare, fashion, or birth work, I found myself consistently holding space for others to explore what lies beneath the surface and to guide people toward their inner truths. Over the last 11 years, I’ve been honored to stand alongside many women and families during some of life’s most profound moments, helping them navigate transformation with curiosity and care.

Motherhood deepened this calling in ways I never expected. As a wife and mother to three incredible boys, I’ve experienced firsthand how birth and motherhood reshape us. My journey included an unmedicated birth in a hospital, an unmedicated birth in a birth center, and finally, a deeply empowering home birth. Each experience required me to trust myself, my body, and my intuition on new levels—teaching me to listen to my inner guidance and embrace the sacred wisdom of birth.

I believe families are divinely woven together to support each other in growth. After witnessing the many unique ways that babies choose to co-create their birth with their parents, I found myself drawn to astrology. Not as a way to prescribe how someone is but as a tool of growth, self-reflection, compassion, and understanding. I have found it deeply helpful in my parenting journey to understand just how unique each of my children and their needs are.

Plants have also been my steadfast companions along the way. My love for cooking wholesome foods and nourishing my family with natural remedies has always been a cornerstone of our lives. Herbs have supported me through pregnancy, postpartum, and the daily rhythms of motherhood, offering comfort, strength, and healing. This connection to the earth and its gifts is woven into everything I do, and it’s a joy to share this knowledge with the families I work with.
